We are pleased to announce the first Sino-Canadian Symposium (2026), which will take place on May 25, 2026 at the Western Toronto Campus.

The 2026 Sino-Canadian Symposium is a one-day event that brings together researchers, innovators, industry leaders, and policymakers to explore how stronger collaboration can accelerate progress in Future Energy. The Symposium will feature invited presentations, as well as a roundtable-style panel discussion. Deliberations will emphasize ways of translating cutting-edge research into scalable technologies, aligning innovation pipelines with industrial needs, and overcoming barriers to commercialization.

Participants will highlight successful case studies where academia–industry-government partnerships have driven impact in areas such as clean energy, energy storage, sustainable systems, and decarbonization. They will present pathways for translating fundamental and applied research into deployable energy technologies, with particular attention to interdisciplinary collaboration, technology readiness levels, and knowledge transfer.

The leitmotif of the Symposium is the path towards interdisciplinary collaboration, supportive policy frameworks, and sustained investment to bridge gaps between discovery, development, and deployment in the energy sector.

The Symposium will serve as a vibrant forum for exchanging ideas and sharing knowledge on the state-of-the-art innovative technologies while considering societal implications. The event will reinforce a shared commitment to a variety of partnerhips capable of transforming energy research into practical solutions that support economic growth and a sustainable energy transition. Selected themes will include emergent technologies, ethical applications of AI, autonomous processes, education, and research.
